December 27, 2019 Trial Drill
“The last drill of the year was held.”
The final Disaster and Emergency Response Drill of 2019 was conducted at the Intergaz facility. The drill, aimed at preventing potential disasters following an earthquake and taking necessary precautions, was carried out with the participation of Intergaz personnel, the fire department, and medical teams.
As part of the drill, responses to leaks and fires caused by an earthquake at the tanker filling area and the cylinder filling area were conducted, along with first aid for the injured and their transfer to the hospital.
Intergaz Deputy General Manager Kader Kencer stated that they provided training to many university students and personnel from other institutions throughout 2019, and that this training is of vital importance. Kencer emphasized the importance for all institutions and organizations to be prepared for disasters and calamities, to create disaster plans, and to test and update these plans through drills. He expressed his hope that such events would remain only drills and thanked the contributing Intergaz and fire department personnel, as well as the medical team.
“We must be prepared for disasters at all times!”
Intergaz Technical Manager, Mechanical Engineer Cem Saldoğan, emphasized that Intergaz personnel are prepared for emergencies through drills supported by continuous training. He stressed that everything is planned, from where to assemble during an emergency to which personnel will undertake which tasks, and that this planning is crucial for an effective emergency response.
Intergaz fire consultant from Turkey, Resul Dilek, in a statement following the Disaster and Emergency Response Drill, highlighted the importance of conducting drills as much as theoretical training, stating that every institution and organization must have an emergency plan and conduct drills. Dilek stated that those who prepare themselves best for disasters and emergencies will save lives in the future, adding, “Training must be supported by regular drills covering everything from where to assemble during a disaster and which personnel undertake what tasks, to building evacuation and the use of fire extinguishing equipment. Every drill is a major preparation for saving lives during a disaster.”
After the drill held at the Intergaz facility, the Intergaz personnel posed for a commemorative photo.
