İntergaz's Life-Saving Drill

Intergaz Ltd. organized a training and drill at the Credit and Dormitories Institution's Bülent Ecevit Dormitory Directorate as part of its social responsibility projects.

Intergaz Ltd., a pioneer in its sector, is successfully continuing its technical safety and fire security training, which it first started in 2011. In addition to its customers and subcontractors, it also provides these trainings as part of its social responsibility to schools, Turkish Cypriot Petroleum personnel,  military units, the Civil Defense Organization, and Fire Department Directorate personnel.

The fire and response training, held at the Bülent Ecevit Dormitory Directorate with the participation of the Intergaz Ltd. team and fire consultant Resul Dilek from Turkey, consisted of two parts. While the first part of the training featured a theoretical presentation on fire and response methods, the second part included a practical drill on fire response methods. In the theoretical training, Resul Dilek provided detailed instruction on the classification of fires and response methods, as well as which type of fire extinguisher should be used for which type of fire.  After the theoretical training, Dilek emphasized the importance of drills, saying, "It is very important to conduct regular drills in buildings like dormitories and schools. Another issue as important as knowing what to do in case of a fire is the evacuation of the building. From building evacuation to the use of fire extinguishing equipment, training must be supported by regular drills."

Following the theoretical training, the Intergaz Ltd. team organized a practical firefighting training for the dormitory staff and students. During the drill, the staff and students extinguished burning gas cylinders one by one, gaining experience and learning step-by-step what to do in case of a fire.

The training organized by Intergaz should be spread across the island.

Resul Dilek, who provided training on how to respond in a potential fire, stated that it is important to know the type of a potential fire and the appropriate firefighting method for it. Dilek emphasized that in crowded buildings like dormitories and schools, knowing firefighting methods is of vital importance, and that after the unfortunate incidents in Turkey, these trainings must be organized in all student dormitories and schools. Dilek added, "Intergaz Ltd. is fulfilling a very important mission with these trainings it organizes in our schools and dormitories within the framework of its social responsibility projects. Knowing what to do in case of a fire is of vital importance. In emergencies, lack of awareness can lead to loss of life. We hope that these trainings will be spread throughout all of Cyprus."

Students had an enjoyable time while extinguishing burning LPG cylinders during the training and subsequent drill organized by Intergaz Ltd. as part of its social responsibility projects. Participants were given certificates of participation after the vitally important fire training.
